JUMP 2K’s 3^rd Annual Award Ceremony was held on March 28^th. As always, it is a time to appreciate the young people within our programmes who have shown consistent effort throughout the year. With passion and dedication each of the awardees has excelled and achieved far beyond society’s expectations and the awards they received were only a small testament to their hard work and dedication. This year, the JAAC guest list consisted of the parents of our young people, teachers, local councillors and key members in our community, including our Lewisham Mayor Sir Steve Bullock.

The night commenced with a delicious three-course meal served by some of the old and new JUMP 2K volunteers.  The dinner was accompanied by light, live jazz from the youth band, creating a soulful, elegant atmosphere throughout the evening. JUMP 2K Trustee, Lillian Brown, later opened the night with a warm welcome and a recall of JUMP 2K’s humble beginnings before welcoming JUMP 2K Prendergast Ladywell College’s Gospel Choir on stage.

The programme continued with a word from the JUMP 2K youth projects’ valedictorian of the night, Jomar O’Meally, 16.  He and the youth of Lewisham were passionately endorsed by Sir Steve Bullock in his address that followed. The Lewisham Mayor’s word complemented the theme of the night: the young achievers of this society will be the ones who will help build the future.
