‘It is important for young men and women to have both a constructive and creative outlet as well as input for their life. The options for this in London aren’t always there’ Adrian Betton

JYC is dedicated to working with young people to provide the most relevant and impacting peer-led youth work. Through the committee the organisation has been able to learn about issues that affect young people from varying backgrounds and find appropriate way of supporting them.

Over the years our volunteers have been involved in planning and implementing conferences, seminars, projects and workshops, various training including first aid, drama, mentoring and counseling and international travel to countries like Poland, France, Spain, South Africa, Nigeria, Uganda, Botswana and Los Angeles

The JUMP Young Writers Society which is a part of the JYC were asked to perform their poetry at Mayo Angelou’s Birthday Celebration which the young people considered a great honour.

  Youth Leadership Programme (YLP)

This programme has been set up to create a safe place for learning and development so as to mobilise young leaders to impact their world.

The YLP focuses on overall development and is open to all young people aged 16 to 26. The programme has a five-prong structure:

  Every 1st Monday

Spiritual Development through prayer, bible studies and special seminars
  Every 2nd Monday

Social Development; as young people, it is important to value the relationships that we have and continuously improve our ability to relate to others, serve others and learn from others. Each 2nd Monday provides practical learning through, film, salsa classes, culture and games night, outings, debates and more.
  Every 3rd Monday

TRAINERS are Personal Development Sessions where young men can grow through the encouragement and experience of their brothers, involves heated discussions, outings and tips on how to be a healthy man. HEELS: these sessions are dedicated to supporting and encouraging young women by looking at value of women and their role in society, the family, the work place and much more.
  Every 4th Monday quarterly

Educational Development, JUMP Arts and Music Showcase (JAMS) provide training, workshops and facilitate learning and education in a comfortable and non-threatening environment.
‘I think that YLP is a great way to meet new positive people, a place where you can confide in others and get sound advice on serious issues. We build each other up, challenge each other and most importantly we learn from each other whilst having fun.’
